Brief Introduction

The Bhutanese name for Bhutan, Druk Yul, means the "Land of the Thunder Dragon", and it is famously known as the “Last Shangri-La”. It has lovely forest hikes and superb bird watching across a chain of national parks. It also has one of the last pristine pockets in the entire Himalayas which you can enjoy just strolling across hillsides ablaze with spring rhododendron blooms. Besides this, the stunning natural scenery and the enduring images of the country are the strong sense of culture and tradition that binds the kingdom and distinguishes it from its neighbors. Bhutan is the only Vajrayana Buddhist nation in the world, and exerts a strong influence in all aspects of life.
